Default Applying for Passport

I have recently applied for re-issue of my passport all by myself (no agents), and the process is really easy. No need to contact any agents and/or pay extra fee, do it online. It has become really easy and convenient now. This is the exact process I am following currently and things seem much faster (no Tatkal).

1. Visit http://passport.gov.in/ and click on Online Registration link. If your city is listed, fill up the online form. Save the PDF, and print it. With a black dot pen, fill up the remaining fields. Where not applicable, must write N/A. You may refer to Column Guidelines for help on how to fill up the form.

2. Photographs affixed must be recent in dark clothes WITH WHITE BACKGROUND. White background is a must or they won't accept the form at the office.

3. Check List for the documents to be attached. Must not forget DOB proof, Address Proof and Old Passport (in case of reissue).

4. Visit the Passport office in your city and submit the form. If there'd be any mistakes in the form or the documents are not sufficient, you'll be told. You'll get a 1000 INR (current fee for new/reissue) receipt with File Number, Registration Mode, and applicant details. Just keep it safe.

5. Within a couple of days your status would be updated at the Passport Status page to "Police Report has not been received."

6. To make the process faster, go to your city's LIB office (usually located within city's main Police Station) in a day or two with a passport-sized photograph, DOB proof, address proof and ask for your police verification. They'd tell you when they would be coming to your house for verification OR they'll complete the formalities there only, just don't forget the docs and a photograph.

7. Then they'd send the application to your locality's police station where further processing takes place. Visit that Police Station in a couple of days alongwith DOB proof, address proof, PAN/DL copy, telephone bill, electricity bill. They'll also ask for details and signature of two referances in your locality/apartment, just get that done.

8. After you are done with the local area Police verification, the completed application form would then be sent again to LIB office where CSP verification is done. In a day or two, the fully verified application would be sent to Passport Office where your passport would be queued for printing. You can expect it to reach you in 15-20 days.

man just read your experience of DL, and now passport lol. How do you manage to do all that by yourself? I hardly know anyone who does it on its own.

I don't have a passport, but I don't need it either. Your valuable tips might help someone for sure. Bookmarked for later use! Thanks.

Yeah have been busy with these things lately. Just thought of trying my hands on them first rather than directly contacting agents, and I really find them easy and straight forward. Requires time and effort ofcourse.
